OFFSpring – Odense International Film Festival returns for its third and to date most ambitious edition: 11 days of events, guest speakers and films by today’s most promising directors. Starting now, filmmakers from the Nordics can submit their films to the festival. 

In early spring, the city of Odense is once again transformed into a vibrant meeting point for curious audiences and cinematic talents. From 25.02 – 07.03.2027, the festival presents a wide selection of films and events that celebrate risk-taking, curiosity and playfulness in Danish and international cinema.

2027 marks OFFSpring’s most ambitious edition to date with a total of 11 days of screenings and events taking place in the middle of Denmark. Once again OFFSpring is proud to present new films by Danish debutants, special screenings and premieres, as well as audience favorites and award winners from the world’s major festivals – along with talks, concerts, Q&As, and much more.

 

Call for Nordic filmmakers

Today we’ve opened for submissions to OFFSpring 2027 – and as a new initiative, filmmakers from the entire Nordic region are invited to submit their work. From now until 15.11.2026, debut and sophomore directors from Denmark, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland can submit films to the festival. The best will be selected for the festival’s main competition where they’ll compete for the OFFSpring Award and a grand prize of 50.000 DKK. 

Felix Björnemalm Fleischer, OFFSpring’s Head of Programme, states: 

“We’re proud to give new voices from all the Nordics a chance of being selected for the festival’s main competition. We believe that enhanced pan-Nordic cooperation gives film talents from the entire region the best conditions for reaching an international breakthrough. Hopefully OFFSpring will grow to become a defining platform for cinematic dialogue across the Nordic countries.”

At the same time, OFFSpring remains steadfast in its dedication to Danish debutants. Once again, all Danish debut films screened at the festival – regardless of section or premiere status – are nominated for the Debutant Award which comes with a price of 25.000 DKK.

• OFFSpring is a festival dedicated to emerging voices in Danish and international filmmaking. 

• The festival made its debut in 2025 and will return in 2027 with an extended programme, taking place from 25.02 – 07.03.2027 in the heart of Odense, Denmark.
